Advanced Mentoring Program :: Application Information

Who Should Apply?

Applicants should have professional or doctoral degrees, experience in disaster research, and extensive training in research methods appropriate for their disciplines. Applicants are expected to have a broad knowledge base in research methodology.

The program is intended for U.S. citizens and residents. Women and members of underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

Application Procedure

Applicants should first contact Jessica Hamblen, Project Director, for a preliminary discussion of the suitability of the program relative to the applicant's goals and situation.

Applicants propose an area of methodological study and describe how this training would enable him or her to address a difficult problem within the field of disaster mental health in an innovative or superior way. He or she would need to identify specific workshops and/or short courses to be attended and find a suitable mentor with expertise in the methodology of interest and document that this expert is willing and able to commit to this task.

When to Apply

Applicants are due December 15, 2006. Selection will be made in January 2007, and candidates could begin March 2007.
