Advanced Mentoring Program for Disaster Researchers

Dartmouth College and the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (NCPTSD) are seeking applicants for a new Advanced Mentoring Program for Disaster Researchers that has been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health. The broad goal of the project is to increase the quality and utility of disaster mental health research by informing, instructing, advising, and mentoring disaster researchers.

About the Program

This program is targeted toward mid-career researchers who want to incorporate stronger methodologies into their disaster reasearch. Up to 4 awards can be granted on a competitive basis. Successful applicants will receive small grants up to $15,000 in direct costs. This funding can be used for workshops, conferences, educational materials/software, travel and mentor's consulting fees. Awards are not intended to provide salary support or to fund original data collection. Mentees can remain in the program for one or two years, depending on the program and approach.

Applications are due December 15, 2006. Selection will be made in January 2007, and candidates could begin March 2007.
